Abstract

In the study, the mammalian fauna of the two protected areas (Akyatan Wildlife Development Area and Aleppo Pinery) in Adana Province were investigated. Some animals were directly observed or determined by indirect methods such as footprint, faeces, and burrow. Additionally, three photo-traps, set on 23 localities, were used to determine species composition and their activity time. Some specimens of small-sized mammals were captured by wire and Sherman traps. Several skulls were found from owl pellets. As a result of the study, it was determined that a total of 16 species, i.e., Erinaceus concolor, Crocidura suaveolensLepus europaeus, Apodemus flavicollis, Mus macedonicusRattus rattusMeriones tristrami, Hystrix indicaCanis aureus, Vulpes vulpes, Martes foina, Meles meles, Felis cf. silvestris, Felis chaus, Herpestes ichneumon, and Sus scrofa which distributed naturally in the areas.
